CONTRIBUTION OF THE REPUBLIC OF TAJIKISTAN TO THE IMPLEMENTATION OF SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS AND GREEN DIPLOMACY

Under this name, on April 16, 2026, an International Scientific and Practical Conference was held in the city of Dushanbe on the initiative of the Research Institute of Sustainable Development and Green Economy and the Institute of World Economy and Diplomacy of the International University of Tourism and Entrepreneurship of Tajikistan within the framework of the International Forum “Partnership for Sustainable Development: Green. Digital. Smart”.

The conference was attended by more than 200 participants, including representatives of state bodies, representatives of the accredited diplomatic corps, including ambassadors extraordinary and plenipotentiary, international organizations, representatives of the scientific community and guests of the forum from foreign countries.

The opening ceremony was attended by: Sharifi Azamsho Latifzod – Assistant to the President of the Republic of Tajikistan for External Relations, Mrs. Parvati Ramaswami – Permanent Coordinator of the United Nations in Tajikistan, Mrs. Uriz Hernandez Izabel – Head of Cooperation of the European Union Representation in Tajikistan, Ahmadzoda Dilnoza Davron – Deputy Chairman of the Committee of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the Majlisi Olis of the Republic of Tajikistan on Science, Education, Culture and Youth Policy, Rashid Ismailov – Head of the Environmental Society of Russia, Dr. Vishnu Juvono – Head of UI Green Metric.

During the conference, the role of the Republic of Tajikistan in the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals, the promotion of green diplomacy, the strengthening of international cooperation, as well as the use of modern political and scientific tools on the way to sustainable development was discussed.

The UN Resident Coordinator Parvathy Ramaswami stressed that with only five years left until 2030and global progress in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals does not correspond to the planned pace. She noted the need to accelerate, from leadership in the formation of the agenda to leadership in its implementation with an emphasis on green diplomacy.

At the International Conference “Contributions of Tajikistan to the SDGs and Green Diplomacy,” the UN Resident Coordinator added that it is essential to ensure that the benefits of green and digital transformations are inclusive, reaching women, youth, persons with disabilities and vulnerable communities.
