PROSPECTS FOR IUTET’S PARTICIPATION IN UI GREEN METRIC-2026 DISCUSSED
On May 29, 2026, an online meeting was held between representatives of the International University of Tourism and Entrepreneurship of Tajikistan (IUTET) and officials responsible for the UI Green Metric Sustainable University Rankings from the University of Indonesia.
The meeting was opened by Professor Farhod Sharofzoda, Director of the Research Institute of Sustainable Development and Green Economy, and Dr. Wisnu Juwono, Head of UI GreenMetric. In their remarks, they highlighted the importance of the university’s participation in the UI Green Metric Sustainable University Rankings as an effective tool for assessing and promoting sustainable development within higher education institutions.
During the meeting, Professor Zulfiya Kurbonzoda, Vice-Rector for Strategic Development and Quality Management, presented an analysis of IUTET’s prospects for participation in the UI Green Metric Sustainable University Rankings 2026. Particular attention was given to the university’s key areas of engagement in the ranking, including the development of sustainable campus infrastructure, efficient use of natural and energy resources, implementation of environmental responsibility principles, improvement of waste management systems, promotion of green transportation, and strengthening educational and research activities in the field of sustainable development.
Special emphasis was also placed on the new “Governance and Digitalization” criterion, which provides additional opportunities for improving institutional governance, advancing digital transformation, and increasing the overall efficiency of university operations.
The main aspects of participation in the 2026 UI Green Metric Sustainable University Rankings were presented by Dr. Wisnu Juwono, Head of UI Green Metric, Dr. Abellia Anggi Wardani, Deputy Head of UI Green Metric, and Dr. Chandra Wulandari, Coordinator of Information and Partnership Programs at UI Green Metric.
It is worth noting that in 2025, the International University of Tourism and Entrepreneurship of Tajikistan became the first higher education institution in the country to participate in this ranking. In addition, on April 15 of this year, within the framework of the International Forum “Cooperation for Sustainable Development: Green. Digital. Smart.”, the International Summit of Sustainable University Rectors was held in Dushanbe in cooperation with the University of Indonesia.
The International University of Tourism and Entrepreneurship of Tajikistan will continue to strengthen its position in the field of sustainable development and actively support international initiatives aimed at creating an environmentally friendly, sustainable, and innovative educational environment.
