
International University of Tourism and Entrepreneurship of Tajikistan Hosts the UI GreenMetric Regional Information Session
On 2 June 2026, at 09:00 AM (Tajikistan Time), the International University of Tourism and Entrepreneurship of Tajikistan (IUTET), serving as the National Coordinator of the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings in the Republic of Tajikistan, in collaboration with the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings, successfully hosted the UI GreenMetric Regional Information Session dedicated to the 2026 ranking cycle.
The event brought together more than 60 representatives from over 25 higher education institutions across the Republic of Tajikistan. Participants discussed key issues related to sustainable campus development, the updated assessment criteria for the 2026 ranking, and practical approaches to enhancing universities’ performance in international sustainability rankings.
The session was officially opened by Dr. Vishnu Juwono, Chairperson of the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings, who highlighted the increasingly important role of higher education institutions in advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), strengthening international collaboration, and fostering active participation in the UI GreenMetric network.
In her welcoming remarks, Prof. Dr. Zulfiya Mahmadnabii Qurbonzoda, Vice-Rector for Strategic Development and Quality Management of IUTET, emphasized the University’s role as the National Coordinator of UI GreenMetric in Tajikistan. She underlined the importance of expanding international cooperation and supporting universities in preparing for successful participation in the 2026 ranking.
The keynote presentation was delivered by Prof. Farhod Sharofzoda, Director of the Research Institute for Sustainable Development and Green Economy. He provided a comprehensive overview of the UI GreenMetric 2026 methodology, including the updated assessment criteria, documentation requirements, and the newly introduced components related to governance, digitalization, efficient resource management, environmental protection, and institutional sustainability.
Rahmi S. Hum, M.Sc., Ph.D., Manager of Operations, Data, and Service Development at UI GreenMetric, presented detailed guidance on the technical aspects of participation, including completion of the questionnaire, submission of supporting evidence, and the use of the online ranking platform. She also addressed participants’ questions regarding the evaluation process.
The session was moderated by Dr. Gulshan Bodurova, Deputy Director of the Research Institute for Sustainable Development and Green Economy at IUTET, who facilitated the discussions and the interactive question-and-answer session.
During the event, participants exchanged views on the procedures for participating in the UI GreenMetric 2026 ranking, strategies for improving institutional performance, digital transformation, sustainable resource management, renewable energy implementation, waste management, green campus infrastructure, and the development of institutional sustainability policies. Experts from UI GreenMetric and IUTET provided practical recommendations and responded to participants’ questions.
The Regional Information Session demonstrated the growing commitment of higher education institutions in Tajikistan to sustainable development and international university rankings. Such initiatives contribute to strengthening international cooperation, promoting sustainability practices across higher education institutions, enhancing universities’ readiness for global rankings, and increasing the international visibility and competitiveness of Tajikistan’s higher education sector.
As the National Coordinator of the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings in the Republic of Tajikistan, the International University of Tourism and Entrepreneurship of Tajikistan will continue supporting higher education institutions nationwide by strengthening institutional capacity, promoting the exchange of best practices, and expanding international cooperation in the field of sustainable development.
