
ORGANIZATION OF THE ENVIRONMENTAL HACKATHON “GREEN LEADERS”
From 26 to 28 November 2025, in the city of Guliston, Sughd Region, an educational ecological hackathon for young people titled “GREEN LEADERS” was held. The event was initiated by the OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe, within the framework of cooperation with the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, the Research Institute for Sustainable Development and Green Economy of the International University of Tourism and Entrepreneurship of Tajikistan, and the group “Ecoproactive.”
During the hackathon, youth teams first took part in training sessions and then presented their creative and practical projects focused on environmental protection, green innovations, sustainable management of natural resources, and new initiatives.
The Research Institute for Sustainable Development and Green Economy of the International University of Tourism and Entrepreneurship of Tajikistan acted as a scientific and expert partner of the hackathon. The Institute’s Deputy Directors Doctor of Political Sciences, Professor Zulfiya Qurbonzoda, and Candidate of Legal Sciences, Associate Professor Gulshan Bodurova actively participated throughout the event.
As part of the hackathon program, Zulfiya Qurbonzoda delivered a presentation on “Green Diplomacy as a New Mechanism of International Cooperation.” Gulshan Bodurova spoke on legal aspects of the green economy and environmental security. In addition, both Deputy Directors served as members of the jury and evaluated the projects presented by the teams. The participation of the Institute’s leadership added professional and academic value to the hackathon, while methodological support and expert recommendations were provided to the participants.
At the closing ceremony, all participants were awarded certificates and commemorative gifts. The 2025 educational eco-hackathon in Guliston contributed to the development of ecological thinking, strengthened young people’s innovation skills, increased environmental responsibility, and created a new platform for scientific cooperation among government institutions, research organizations, and international partners.
The direct participation of the Research Institute for Sustainable Development and Green Economy in the hackathon further reinforces the Institute’s position as a leading research center and a reliable international partner in supporting the implementation of state policy in the field of the green economy.
