MEETING WITH REPRESENTATIVES OF THE GERMAN AGENCY FOR INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION (GIZ)

On 16 October 2025, a meeting was held at the State Institution “Research Institute for Sustainable Development and Green Economy” of the International University of Tourism and Entrepreneurship of Tajikistan with representatives of the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ). The meeting took place within the framework of the regional project “Green Skills for a Green Economy in Central Asia (PROGRESS).”

The PROGRESS project is being implemented in four Central Asian countries – Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan. Its main goal is to strengthen employment opportunities and professional development in the field of the green economy. The project is aimed at integrating green skills into public policy, developing new educational programs in cooperation with the private sector, and enhancing the capacity of educational and research institutions.

The meeting was attended by Project Manager Udo Folkers, regional advisors from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan, as well as the team of the Institute for Sustainable Development and Green Economy. The parties discussed issues related to developing cooperation in the field of green employment, training specialists for the green labor market, and the Institute’s participation in project activities.

The meeting marked the beginning of a new stage of cooperation between the Institute for Sustainable Development and Green Economy of the Tajik International University of Tourism and Entrepreneurship and GIZ, aimed at strengthening green education and developing professional competencies to promote the green economy in the Republic of Tajikistan.
