MANAGEMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES AND ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION UNDER CLIMATE CHANGE

On 4 June 2025, a round table was held at the International University of Tourism and Entrepreneurship of Tajikistan, dedicated to World Environment Day, which is celebrated annually on 5 June.

The event was organized at the initiative of the Research Institute for Sustainable Development and Green Economy of the International University of Tourism and Entrepreneurship of Tajikistan in cooperation with the Aarhus Centre of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan. Its aim was to discuss the challenges and opportunities related to natural resource management and environmental protection in the face of increasing climate risks.

The round table brought together representatives of state ministries and agencies, research and scientific institutions, commercial structures, civil society, as well as lecturers and students.

The round table opened with a welcoming address by the Director of the Institute, Doctor of Economics, Professor Farhod Sharofzoda, who noted that environmental protection and the rational use of natural resources are among the key priorities of state policy. In this context, the proclamation of 2025 as the International Year of Glaciers’ Preservation by the UN at the initiative of Tajikistan was highlighted as evidence of the country’s significant contribution to addressing environmental issues at the global level.

As the event continued, leading experts and specialists – including representatives of the Committee for Environmental Protection, the Academy of Sciences, private companies, and scientific institutions – delivered presentations on issues related to the development of the green economy, the implementation of innovative and green technologies, ensuring food security under climate change, the efficient use of water and land resources, the conservation of biological diversity, and other key aspects of ecology.

In active discussions, participants presented valuable proposals and recommendations on strengthening cooperation between state structures, the private sector, and civil society in order to improve the environmental situation and expand the use of green technologies.

At the end of the event, speakers and active university volunteers were awarded letters of appreciation and commemorative gifts.
