
REPUBLICAN SCIENTIFIC AND PRACTICAL CONFERENCE ON “ENSURING SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURAL DEVELOPMENT IN THE CONTEXT OF CLIMATE CHANGE”
On 4 November 2025, the International University of Tourism and Entrepreneurship of Tajikistan, on the initiative of the Research Institute for Sustainable Development and Green Economy, hosted a republican scientific and practical conference titled “Ensuring Sustainable Agricultural Development in the context of Climate Change”
The main objective of the conference was to advance scientific research on climate change adaptation, ensure food security, and promote sustainable economic mechanisms in this field.
The conference was opened by the Director of the Research Institute for Sustainable Development and Green Economy of the International University of Tourism and Entrepreneurship of Tajikistan, Doctor of Economics and Professor Farhod Sharofzoda. He noted that, in light of the far-sighted policy of the Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon, environmental protection and sustainable agricultural development have become key elements of economic and environmental security. He also emphasized the scientific and practical importance of the conference, the role of science in ensuring sustainable agricultural development, and the need for the national economy to adapt to the impacts of climate change.
Then, the Vice-Rector of the International University of Tourism and Entrepreneurship of Tajikistan, Candidate of Economic Sciences and Associate Professor Gulrū Safar Qalandarzoda, spoke on behalf of the University’s leadership. She stressed that by organizing such events, the University makes a significant contribution to implementing state policy on sustainable development and ensuring the country’s food security.
In his remarks, Abduroziqzoda Lutfullo Davlat, Deputy Head of the Department for International Relations, Science, and Implementation of Scientific Achievements of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Tajikistan, described the Ministry’s scientific and practical cooperation with higher education institutions and research centers as essential for strengthening the agricultural sector’s capacity under climate change conditions.
In the plenary session, presentations were delivered by leading scholars of the country:
Jalil Safar Pirizoda – Doctor of Economics, Professor, Academician of the Academy of Agricultural Sciences of Tajikistan, and Director of the Institute of Economics and Systematic Research on Agricultural Development of the Academy of Agricultural Sciences of Tajikistan, on “The Effectiveness of State Regulation Measures in the Agricultural Products Market under the Implementation of the Import Substitution Concept”;
Dilshod Mirzovalievich Umarov – Director of the State Institution “Research Institute of Hydrotechnics and Land Reclamation” under the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources of the Republic of Tajikistan, on “Intensive Cultivated Pastures in Tajikistan as a Key Factor of Sustainable Environmental and Food Security”;
Isayn Rahim Rahimzoda – Doctor of Economics, Professor, Head of the Department of National Economy and Economic Security at Tajik National University, on “Development of the Green Economy of Tajikistan: Pathways of Formation and Prospects”;
Qurbonali Partoev – Doctor of Agricultural Sciences, Professor, Head of the Laboratory of Plant Genetics and Breeding at the Institute of Botany, Plant Physiology and Genetics of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan, on “The Development of Crop Breeding in Enhancing Food Security”; and
Firdavs Pulodovich Arabov – Doctor of Economics, Associate Professor, Head of the Department of Sustainable Agriculture and Food Security at the Research Institute for Sustainable Development and Green Economy of the International University of Tourism and Entrepreneurship of Tajikistan, on “Adapting Agriculture to Climate Change in Achieving Food Security.”
In the scientific discussion session, representatives of research institutions, universities, and sector experts shared their views on innovative directions for agricultural development, natural resource management, implementation of green economy policies, and building a sustainable agricultural and food security system.
In closing, the plenary session emphasized that sustainable development of the agricultural sector can be ensured through scientific and innovative outcomes, modern economic mechanisms, effective management of land and water resources, and the expansion of international cooperation.
