THE REPUBLIC OF TAJIKISTAN’S CONTRIBUTION TO THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS AND GREEN DIPLOMACY
On 15th of April 2025 by the initiative of the Research Institute for sustainable development and green economy of the International University of tourism and entrepreneurship of Tajikistan an international scientific and practical conference on “The contribution of the Republic of Tajikistan to the implementation of the sustainable development goals and green diplomacy” was held, dedicated to 2025 – the International year of glacier protection.
The conference was opened by professor Ubaydullo Asrorzoda – Rector of the International University of tourism and entrepreneurship of Tajikistan. He spoke about the initiatives of the Republic of Tajikistan under the consistent leadership of the Leader of the nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon to strengthen Tajikistan’s diplomatic relations with foreign countries, implement the sustainable development goals and the green economy, and wished the conference participants success and prosperity.
Then, Assistant to the President of the Republic of Tajikistan of foreign affairs – Sharifi Azamsho Latifzod spoke about the Leader of the Nation’s international initiatives in the area of ”Green diplomacy” and the fight against climate change, the impact of these initiatives on the international community, and the growing influence of the Republic of Tajikistan on the implementation of the sustainable development goals.
In the afternoon, the conference continued in seven separate sections, each dedicated to various aspects of implementing the sustainable development goals and promoting “Green diplomacy” internationally as well as its specific features in the Republic of Tajikistan. Forty-six scientific papers were presented by researchers from the Research Institute for sustainable development and green economy of the International University of tourism and entrepreneurship of Tajikistan, the National academy of sciences of Tajikistan, the Tajik national university, the Technological university of Tajikistan and the Tajik state University of finance and economics.
The conference concluded with a question-and-answer session and discussions. Professor Farhod Sharofzoda – director of the Research Institute for sustainable development and green economy of the International University of tourism and entrepreneurship of Tajikistan expressed his gratitude to the participants in his closing remarks and declared the conference closed.
