OPEN LECTURE ON THE ACTIVITIES OF THE INTERNATIONAL COMMITTEE OF THE RED CROSS AND INTERNATIONAL HUMANITARIAN LAW

On 24 November 2025, at the International University of Tourism and Entrepreneurship of Tajikistan, on the initiative of the Research Institute for Sustainable Development and Green Economy, in cooperation with the Institute of World Economy and International Relations and the Faculty of Law and Customs, a scientific and educational lecture was held on the activities of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the fundamentals of International Humanitarian Law (IHL).

 

The event began with opening remarks by the Institute’s Director, Farhod Sharofzoda. On behalf of the University’s leadership, he welcomed the guests, lecturers, and students to this academic meeting and warmly congratulated everyone on the occasion of the National Flag Day of the Republic of Tajikistan.

 

In his speech, Sharofzoda emphasized that productive cooperation with international organizations, including the ICRC, creates opportunities for students to become familiar with international humanitarian standards, legal analysis, and practical experience in this field.

 

Afterwards, Mansurov Umed Abdufattokhovich, Legal Adviser of the ICRC Mission in the Republic of Tajikistan, delivered a presentation on the important topic of the ICRC’s activities, the foundations of international humanitarian law, and its principles.

 

During the lecture, students from the Institute of World Economy and International Relations and the Faculty of Law and Customs actively participated and posed various questions to the expert.

 

In addition, Mansurov Umed Abdufattokhovich provided the University library with educational and methodological materials on the work of the ICRC and international humanitarian law, which is of particular importance for the teaching process and research activities.

 

At the conclusion of the event, the Institute presented a certificate of appreciation to the representative of the ICRC in recognition of mutually beneficial cooperation.
