Arabov Firdavs Pulodovich is the First Deputy Director for Science and Innovation, Doctor of Economic Sciences, and Professor. A recognized expert in economics, he has dedicated his academic and professional career to advancing sustainable socio-economic development. The results of his research have been published in national and international peer-reviewed journals, including outlets in the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Russian Federation, the United States, and several European countries.
Professor Arabov’s research agenda is closely aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and focuses on: improving the ecological and economic performance of agriculture to strengthen food security; ecological and economic management of water resources in the context of sustainable development; enhancing land reclamation and the meliorative condition of agricultural areas; refining mechanisms to attract investment for sustainable agricultural development; digitalization of agricultural production through AI-enabled platforms; efficient and sustainable use of land and water resources in agriculture; and protection of natural ecosystems to support SDG implementation.
Since 2013, he has been actively engaged in scientific, educational, and research work. Professor Arabov has authored 65 scientific publications, including 27 articles in journals reviewed by the Higher Attestation Commission under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan; 8 articles indexed in international citation databases (Scopus and Web of Science); 28 articles published in international and national journals and conference proceedings; and 2 monographs.
In his role as First Deputy Director for Science and Innovation, Professor Arabov provides strategic leadership for the Research Institute’s scientific and analytical portfolio. His responsibilities include:
– planning and coordinating the Institute’s priority research directions in line with national strategies and the global sustainable development agenda;
– developing and implementing the Institute’s innovation and education agenda within the “green economy” framework, including interdisciplinary research, modern scientific methodologies, and environmental innovations;
– providing scientific and methodological oversight for postgraduate and PhD programs, ensuring quality assurance and alignment with international academic standards;
– leading scientific projects and initiatives in key areas such as green diplomacy, climate resilience, transboundary cooperation, and environmental security;
– representing the Institute at international scientific forums, conferences, and expert platforms, and contributing to interagency and interstate scientific dialogue;
– supporting institutional scientific and human resources policy, including the development of scientific schools, mentorship of young researchers, and promotion of academic exchange.
Professor Arabov’s professional expertise, strong academic standing, and extensive international networks significantly strengthen the Institute’s institutional capacity and contribute to its recognition as a leading research and analytical center in sustainable development, the green economy, and food security.
In recognition of his contributions to national culture and education, Professor Arabov received the “Excellence in Culture of the Republic of Tajikistan” award in 2020 and the “Excellence in Education and Science of Tajikistan” award in 2022 from the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Tajikistan.
